Winter weather closings:

• UPDATED Thursday, Jan. 30, 10:40 a.m.: Walmart will reopen at 1 p.m. today. BankTrust branches will reopen at noon. Jus Do will reopen at 1 p.m.

• UPDATED Thursday, Jan. 30, 10 a.m.: Thou Art will open at 1 p.m. today. Spike Maxwell/State Farm Insurance is open.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 3:45 p.m.: Jefferson Davis Community College’s campuses in Brewton and Atmore will be closed Thursday.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 3 p.m.: Oaks Cafe will reopen at 4 p.m. Thursday.

John Richard Miller’s funeral has been moved from Thursday to 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Brewton. Visitation will be at noon at the church.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2:15 p.m.: St. Stephen’s Preschool will be closed, and the YMCA pre-school will be closed. The YMCA will be open from noon to 9 p.m., and basketball will play.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1:40 p.m.: Donut Delite in Brewton is closed Wednesday and Thursday.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1 p.m.: The Escambia County Courthouse and Satellite Office will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 30. County offices and courts will open on Friday.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 12:45 p.m.: Brewton City Schools and Escambia County Schools will be closed Thursday.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 12:30 p.m.: City of Brewton offices will remain closed Wednesday and Thursday morning and will reopen at noon Thursday.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 11:45 a.m.: Trustmark Bank is closed Wednesday.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 11 a.m.: Brewton Walgreens is opening for a few hours with a few employees who live near the store and will be open until 3 p.m.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 10:10 a.m.: New Beginnings Worship Center has cancelled Wednesday night’s service and will resume on Sunday at 10 a.m.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 9:45 a.m.: The Oaks is closed Wednesday. Walgreens is closed this morning, tentatively set to reopen at noon Wednesday. The Probation and Parole Office is closed until noon Thursday.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 9:20 a.m.: Brewton Area YMCA, David’s Catfish and Piggly Wiggly are closed today.

• UPDATED Wednesday, Jan. 29, 8:20 a.m.: Weaver’s will be closed Wednesday. Frit Car is closed Wednesday and will reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 9:15 p.m.: Brewton Medical Center will be closed Wednesday.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 5:25 p.m.: The Brewton Area YMCA pre-school will be closed Wednesday.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 4 p.m.: Huddle House in Brewton is closed and will open sometime Wednesday afternoon. Pic N Sav will close at 5 p.m. today. Piggly Wiggly remains open.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 3:15 p.m.: Walmart in Brewton has closed.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 3 p.m.: Walgreens in Brewton is closing at 4 p.m. today.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2:30 p.m.: Due to the weather and our concern for employees’ and customers’ safety, David’s Catfish Andalusia, Atmore and Brewton will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The restaurants hope to be open at 11 Wednesday.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2:15 p.m.: County roads in Conecuh County will close at 5 p.m. today.

The Brewton First United Methodist Church office will be closed Wednesday and will reopen Thursday.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1:30 p.m.: Brewton city offices will close immediately and will remain closed through Wednesday due to the winter storm. Emergency services will remain active as the dangerous weather system passes through.

• Due to continued inclement weather, all campuses of Jefferson Davis Community College will be closed Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29, for all students, faculty and staff.  All classes, including day and evening, are cancelled. Normal college operations will resume Thursday, Jan. 30.  The JDCC Math Tournament scheduled for Thursday, January 30 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later time.  

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 11:20 a.m.: All Wednesday night First Baptist Church activities – including REFUGE – have been cancelled due to the weather forecast.

• UPDATED Tuesday, Jan. 28, 8 a.m.: Trustmark’s main office in downtown Brewton will open at normal business hours Tuesday and will be open as long as weather permits—possibly until around noon. The Northside and East Brewton branches will be closed Tuesday. All locations will open regular business hours ASAP when weather permits.

• Brewton City Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Escambia County Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Jefferson Davis Community College will be closed Tuesday. A determination will be made later about Wednesday classes.

• The Escambia County Courthouse will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Courtroom proceedings will be rescheduled.

• First United Methodist Church has cancelled brown bag lunch on Tuesday as well as Wednesday night fellowship.
