Wallace Selma hands JDCC basketball sixth straight loss Thursday

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team saw their losing streak grow to six straight losses Thursday night on the road in Selma as they lost to Wallace State-Selma 75-69.
With the six-point loss, the Warhawks fell to 3-16 overall and to 1-10 in conference play.
“We had a nine-point lead midway through the second half, but ran out of gas and too many turnovers,” JDCC head coach Allen Gainer said.
The Warhawks of JDCC led Wallace State-Selma 32-31 after the first half of play, but was outscored 44-37 in the second half.
JDCC had three players in double figures in the loss with Mikwese Claybourne leading the way with 24 points. Chris Oden joined in with 20 points and Michael Hutchins added 13. JaQuan Threatt, Anthony Bell and Keaynon Gulley all chipped in four points each for the Warhawks of JDCC in the loss.
Darren Wilson led the Warhawks with seven rebounds. Oden, Threatt, and Bell all led with five assists each while Hutchins led with two blocks.
Hutchins and Sherman Rountree finished with one steal each to lead in the loss.
JDCC will be back in action Monday at home as they will take on Alabama Southern. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Brewton and will be a conference game for the Warhawks.
The game will be the final home game of the season for JDCC as they will end their regular with two road trips to LBW and to Faulkner State.
JDCC will take on LBW Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. before ending with Faulkner State on Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m.
