JDCC softball goes 1-2 in LBW tourney Saturday

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball team went 1-2 in three tournament games Saturday at LBW’s round robin tournament.
JDCC defeated LBW 17-4 in their first game, but lost to Marion Military 9-1 and to Northwest Florida 8-0. The win against LBW ended a seven-game losing streak for the Lady Warhawks.
The 1-2 record at the tournament made JDCC’s overall record 3-12 this season.
The Lady Warhawks will be back in action Wednesday at Huntingdon College. Game time is TBA.
JDCC will be back in action at home Saturday against Chattahoochee Valley. Game time is set for 1 and 3 p.m.
Game one: JDCC 17, LBW 4
Breanna Hall had a double, a homerun and three RBIs to help JDCC to a 17-4 win over LBW in their first game Saturday.
JDCC held LBW to one run in the second and three in the fifth while plating five of their own in the first and third innings, one in the second and three more in the fourth and fifth innings to get the win by 13 runs.
Along with Hall’s 3-for-5 day at the plate and three RBIs, Kaitlyn Kenfield had a hit and Laura Zeegers had two doubles and two RBIs.
Mindy Walker was 3-for-3 with one RBI and Rachel Seitz was 1-for-1 with three RBIs.
Jessica Swindle was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Caroline Clark was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.
Kena Ellison and Brittany Gillman added one RBI each.
Swindle, Hall, and Kaitlin Hadaway all pitched for JDCC. The trio went five innings and allowed seven hits, four runs, one earned, walked four and struck out three.
Game two: MMI 9, JDCC 1
Against Marion Military in their second game Saturday, the Lady Warhawks lost to MMI 9-1.
MMI held JDCC to one run in the fifth inning while scoring one of their own in the third, five in the fourth, one in the fifth and two more in the seventh to get the win by eight runs.
Kenfield, Seitz, Clark and Swindle all had one hit each with Swindle driving in the lone JDCC run.
Hadaway took the pitching loss for JDCC as she went 3 2/3 innings and allowed five hits, six runs, four earned, walked four and struck out four. Swindle went the final 3 1/3 innings and allowed five hits, three earned runs, walked three and struck out one.
Game three: NWF 8, JDCC 0
In their final game Saturday, JDCC was blanked by Northwest Florida 8-0.
NWF struck early and often against JDCC as they scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, and one in the third to lead 8-0 after three innings.
In the loss, JDCC had only three hits.
Kenfield, Hall and Zeegers all had one hit each to lead JDCC in the loss.
Hall and Hadaway pitched in the loss with Hall being the pitcher of record.
The duo combined to go four innings and allowed 13 hits, eight runs, six earned, walked three and struck out one.
