JDCC baseball splits with Bishop State

JDCC’s baseball team got back in the win column Saturday at home as they split a conference doubleheader with Bishop State.
The Warhawks won game one over the Wildcats by a score of 2-1 before falling in game two 8-5. The split improved JDCC’s record to 3-9 overall and to 1-3 in conference play.
In game one, JDCC scored both of their runs in the fourth inning after Bishop State took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning.
Nick Helton earned the win on the mound as he went the complete game seven innings and allowed seven hits, one earned run, walked none and struck out four.
At the plate for the Warhawks, Brandon Davis, John-Mark Cosby, Alex Jones, Cameron Davis, Greg Ciangiotto and Jonathan Moore all had hits.
In game two, JDCC led Bishop State 5-1 after four innings before giving up seven unanswered to take the three-run loss.
Bishop added two runs in the fifth inning, four in the sixth and one in the seventh to down the Warhawks.
At the plate for JDCC, Cosby, Logan Hill, Craig Headley, Tanner Zant and Brandon Goins all had hits. Headley and Zant had two in the loss while Davis, Cosby and Hill all had one RBI each.
Dylan Johnson, Roman Donofro and Tyler Henry all pitched for JDCC in the loss. The trio combined to go seven innings and allowed 11 hits, eight runs, five earned, walked four and struck out six.
