Four-run seventh inning propels JDCC baseball to win over Faulkner

In a back-and-forth home game Wednesday against Faulkner University of Montgomery, the JDCC Warhawk baseball team used a four-run seventh inning to break the game open and get a 9-5 win. The win for the Warhawks over the Eagles improved JDCC to 7-12 overall this season.
Faulkner took a 1-0 lead early on JDCC in the first inning and held the one-run over JDCC until the second inning when the Warhawks tied the game at 1-all.
Both teams would plate two runs each in the third inning to carry a 3-all tied into the fourth.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Faulkner outscored JDCC 2-1 in the fifth inning to grab a 5-4 lead only to see JDCC tie the game at 5-all in the bottom of the sixth. From there, JDCC added four runs in the seventh inning and held Faulkner scoreless the remainder of the game to get the win by four.
JDCC used five pitchers in the win with Roman Donofro being the pitcher of record. Along with Donofro on the mound, Scott Robertson, Jacob Fillmore, Tyler Henry and Ryan Roberts all pitched.
The JDCC pitchers combined to go nine innings and allowed 12 hits, five runs, four earned, walked two ands truck out three.
At the plate, Taylor Fought, Alex Jones, Greg Ciangiotto, Michael Fox and Taylor Baynes all had two hits each while Tanner Zant and Matthew Holmes had one each.
Fought, Zant and Jones had doubles while Jones had two RBIs and Baynes led with three in the win.
Ciangiotto, Homes and Caleb Dickey all had one RBI each for JDCC.
