TRM girls and boys track teams sweep nine-team home event Tuesday (with photos)

A wide variety of track teams descended on the campus of T.R. Miller Tuesday afternoon for a track meet. Nine teams, including T.R. Miller, took part in the event. Joining the Tigers in the event was Cottage Hill, W.S. Neal, J.U. Blacksher, Escambia County of Atmore, Florala, Monroe County and Hillcrest. Red Level also took part in the meet.
In the boys meet, T.R. Miller defeated Cottage Hill by 53 points to claim first place.
The Tigers posted 172 points to the Warriors’ 119 to take first place. Hillcrest placed third with 61 points followed by J.U. Blacksher with 57 points, Escambia County with 41, Monroe County with 40, W.S. Neal with 15, and Florala with two points.
T.R. Miller’s boys scored first place finishes in eight of the 18 events.
In the girls meet, T.R. Miller also defeated Cottage Hill by 53 points for first place. The Lady Tigers scored 222 points to Cottage Hill’s 169.
Hillcrest took third place with 39 points followed by J.U. Blacksher with 35 points, Escambia County with 27, Monroe County with 13, W.S. Neal with four and Florala with no points.
T.R. Miller’s girls scored first place finishes in nine of the 18 events.
T.R. Miller’s next home meet will be Saturday, April 12 at 9 a.m. W.S. Neal will also take part in the Saturday meet.
