JDCC softball splits with Huntindgon, gets swept at Faulkner State

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team came away with a split last Monday against Huntingdon College in Montgomery.
JDCC lost game one 5-4, but earned a 5-0 win in game two to move to 11-28 this season.
In game one, with the game tied at 3-all heading into the bottom of the third inning, Huntingdon scored two runs in the inning to grab a 5-3 lead. JDCC would plate one run in the top of the fifth inning, but took the loss by one.
Kaitlin Hadaway took the loss for JDCC in the circle as she went 4 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, five runs, none earned, walked three and struck out four. JDCC made three errors in the loss.
At the plate for the Lady Warhawks in game one, Audrey Hamric was 1-for-3, Kaitlyn Kenfield was 2-for-2 and Jessica Swindle was 1-for-3 along with Laura Zeegers. Mindy Walker went 2-for-2 with three RBIs while Rachel Seitz had one RBI. Moriah Trujillo went 1-for-2 in the loss.
In game two, Breanna Hall pitched a no-hitter to help JDCC to the 5-0 win. Hall went five innings in the circle and allowed no runs, no hits, walked two and struck out four.
JDCC scored two runs in the first and three in the sixth to get the win.
At the plate, Hamric was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Kenfield was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Walker was 1-for-3 with one RBI while Hall was 1-for-3, Paige Lambeth was 1-for-2 and Paige Wooley was 2-for-2 with one RBI.
FSCC sweeps JDCC
In their first conference game of the season Wednesday against Faulkner State in Bay Minnette, the JDCC Lady Warhawks softball was swept 2-0.
In game one, JDCC lost 9-2. In game two, JDCC lost 3-2. The two losses to the Lady Sun Chiefs dropped the Lady Warhawks to 11-30 overall and to 0-2 in conference play.
“The team played very well for their first conference outing,” JDCC head coach Misti Nims said.
In game one, JDCC and Faulkner State were tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. In the inning, Faulkner State took a 2-1 lead over JDCC and then a 6-1 lead after a grand slam. JDCC scored in the sixth inning to cut Faulkner’s lead to 6-2, but Faulkner added three runs in the sixth inning to help them get the seven-run win.
“Chelsey Ramer had a great defensive game and accounted for both RBIs in scoring Brittany Gillman and Rachel Seitz,” Nims said.
Kaitlin Hadaway and Jessica Swindle pitched in the loss and combined to go six innings and allowed 11 hits, nine runs, seven earned, walked three and struck out two.
At the plate, Audrey Hamric and Caroline Clark had one hit each while Swindle and Ramer had two. Moriah Trujillo added one hit in the loss.
In game two, Audrey Hamric scored for JDCC in the first inning after a hit by Swindle. JDCC held the lead until the fourth inning when Faulkner tied the game at 1-all. In the top of the fifth inning, JDCC went ahead when Breanna Hall scored Kaitlyn Kenfield.
The Lady Sun Chiefs of Faulkner State, went on to secure the lead after a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Hall was the pitcher of record for JDCC as she went six innings and allowed six hits, three runs, two earned, walked two and struck out none.
At the plate, Hamric and Kenfield had one hit each while Swindle had three and Hall had two.
Swindle and Hall had one RBI each in the loss.
