JDCC baseball cruises to another win; picks up fifth straight “W”

Thursday at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia on the campus of LBW, Jefferson Davis Community College’s Warhawk baseball team earned a 12-4 win over the Saints to push their current winning streak to five straight wins. Also with the win, JDCC earned their ninth win in their last 10 games to improve to 17-16 overall and to 13-9 in conference play.
JDCC led LBW 2-0 after one inning and 3-0 after two innings before seeing LBW tie the game at 3-all in the bottom of the fourth. From there, JDCC outscored the Saints 9-1 to get the eight-run win. JDCC held LBW to one more run in the fifth while plating two of their own in the top of the fifth, three in the sixth, one in the seventh and three more in the ninth.
Nick Helton, Tyler Henry, and Taylor Baynes all pitched for JDCC in the win and went nine innings and allowed seven hits, four runs, four earned, walked four and struck out two.
At the plate, JDCC pounded out 14 hits and got 12 RBIs in the win.
Logan Hill, Craig Headley and Alex Jones all led JDCC in the win at the plate.
Hill had a solo homerun in the win while Headley had a double and one RBI. Jones added four hits and four RBIs with two hits being a double.
Also at the plate for JDCC, Jonathan Moore had two hits and two RBIs while John-Mark Cosby had one hit and one RBI.
Dake Rivers chipped in three hits and one RBI while Michael Fox and Brandon Davis had one hit and one RBI each for the Warhawks of JDCC.
