JDCC baseball defeats Wallace-Dothan; clinches spot in tourney

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team clinched a spot in the conference tournament Thursday with a 9-5 win at Wallace-Dothan. The win improved the Warhawks to 21-19 overall and to 16-12 in conference play.
In the win Thursday, JDCC trailed Dothan 1-0 after the third inning before scoring two in the fourth and four in the seventh inning to build a 6-1 lead.
After Wallace added four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to cut JDCC’s lead to 6-5, the Warhawks scored two in the eighth inning and one in the ninth to get the four-run win.
Dylan Johnson earned the pitching win on the mound for the Warhawks while Tyler Henry earned the save. Roman Donofro also pitched in the win for the Warhawks.
The trio combined to go nine innings and allowed seven hits, five earned runs, walked three and struck out six.
For the Warhawks at the plate, John-Mark Cosby and Alex Jones both had homeruns while Craig Headley. Cosby went 2-for-5 with two RBIs along with Jonathan Moore.
Logan Hill went 2-for-4 while Headley was 1-for-4.
Jones finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs while Dake Rivers had two hits and one RBI. Michael Fox, Brandon Davis, Brandon Goins and Hunter Myrick all had one hit each with Davis and Myrick having one RBI each.
