JDCC softball sweeps Bishop State, splits with Alabama Southern

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team ended their conference and regular season schedule Friday and Sunday at home. JDCC swept Bishop State Friday and split with Alabama Southern Sunday to finish the regular season with a 17-38 overall record. The Lady Warhawks ended their conference season with a 7-9 record.
JDCC will play next in the state tournament Friday in Alabaster.
Friday: JDCC 3-4, Bishop 2-3
In a conference makeup game Friday at home, JDCC edged Bishop State in two games to get the sweep. JDCC won game one 3-2 and game two 4-3.
In game one, Laura Zeegers three-run homerun for JDCC turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead. After Bishop plated one in the top of the seventh, JDCC earned the one-run win as Bishop stranded the tying run at third base.
Breanna Hall earned the win in the circle as she went five innings and allowed one hit, one earned run, walked five and struck out four. Jessica Swindle pitched the final two innings to get the save. Swindle allowed two hits, one earned run, walked and struck out none.
At the plate, Audrey Hamric and Kaitlyn Kenfield had a single each while Zeegers had a three-run homerun. Chelsey Ramer added a double while Swindle and Paige Wooley had a single.

Sunday: JDCC 4-4, ASCC 3-5
On Sunday, JDCC split with Alabama Southern. JDCC won game one 4-3, but lost game two 5-4.
In game one, Swindle earned the pitching win while Kaitlin Hadaway earned the save. Swindle had a two-run homerun and Mindy Walker added a two-run homerun.
In game two, Zeegers had back-to-back homeruns for JDCC.
