Alabama residents have until Friday to register to vote for the June primary.

That’s three days from today, and that means you, if you haven’t already registered to vote.

The ability to vote sets us apart from others throughout the world. It gives us our own voice in the government process. We urge to exercise that right.

Voter registration closes 10 business days before an election in Alabama. Those needing to register to vote in the June 3 Primary must mail or hand-deliver your voter registration application by Friday to the Registrars’ Office in Escambia County.

If you have moved to a new county, you must re-register in that county.

If you have changed your name or your address, please notify your county’s registrars and complete an update form immediately. It’s important that the information is correct before heading to the polls.

The last day to apply for an absentee ballot for the June 2. Get your application for an absentee ballot from the Secretary of State website sos.alabama.gov or request an application from the circuit clerk or absentee election manager.

One may hand deliver your absentee ballot by the close of business on the day prior to the election.

Those needing assistance should visit the circuit clerk’s office located in the Escambia County Courthouse.
