JDCC basketball gets first win

Adrian Rich scored 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team Thursday at Spring Hill to lead the Warhawks to their first win of the season by a score of 83-80. The win improved JDCC to 1-3 overall this season.
JDCC led 47-41 after the first half of play, but was outscored 39-36 in the second half.
JDCC head coach Allen Gainer said his team was very fortunate to escape with a win.
“We led by as much as 14 late, but they got really hot from 3-point area and had a chance to tie at buzzer,” Gainer said. “Adrian Rich had a phenomenal game.”
While Rich pulled down a double-double for the Warhawks, JDCC had five of their seven scores finish in double figures Thursday.
Along with Rich’s 26 points, Keenan Williams added 15, Brandon Davis had 12, Fletcher Forte had 11 points and Darren Wilson had 10.
Rich led JDCC with four offensive rebounds along with four from Davis. Rich had 12 rebounds on defense.
Williams led with seven assists and two steals. Davis led with three blocks.
JDCC was 8-for-19 from the free throw line and shot 53.2 percent from the field. The Warhawks were 9-for-28 from the 3-point area.
