Willie Edmon Blair

Willie Edmon Blair, 66, of Williams Lane Atmore, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, 2014 in a Pensacola, Fla., hospice facility after a brief illness.
He was a native of Castleberry, and long time resident of Boulder, Colo., before moving to Atmore. He was of the Christian faith, a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam, and a retired ASE automobile mechanic.
He is survived by two sons, William Billy (Lesa) Blair of Saraland, Clay (Carrie) Blair of Georgia; one daughter, Kimberly Jones of Fort Collins, Colo.; one brother, Billy Dewayne Blair of Brewton; two sisters, Martha Ann West of Brewton and Wanda Faye Blair of Brewton; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Roark Blair; his parents, Jessie Uriah and Brtie Lister Blair.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifton Buchanan officiating.
Interment followed in Cooper Cemetery in Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Daniel Ancel Jordan, 56, of Flomaton, passed away at his home on Mon., Dec. 8, 2014.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Flomaton where he worked as a welder and pipefitter for Gulf Construction.
He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian ‘Bib’ and Janie Hinson Jordan.
He is survived by his daughter, April Jordan of Brewton; brother, Billy Ray (Barbara) Jordon of Stockton; sister, Judy (Bud) Lambeth of Atmore; niece, Mandy (Josh) Turner of Brewton; nephews, Shannon (April) Lambeth of Fairhope and Michael (Angie) Lambeth of Monroeville.
Funeral services were held on Fri., Dec, 12, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Dr. Ed Glaize officiating.
Interment followed in Little Escambia Cemetery in Flomaton with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.

Mary Voncile “Bonnie” Godwin, 81, of Fleming Lane Brewton, passed away Thursday night, Dec.11, 2014, at her residence after a brief illness.
She was a native and life long resident of Conecuh and Escambia County.
She was a member of Alco Baptist Church, attended the school’s in Conecuh County, was a former employee of Chemstrand, Southern Coach, and Sheltex, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, William M. (Renee) Godwin of Brewton and Keith (Lea) Godwin of Castleberry; three daughters, Maxine V. (Donnie) Miller of Evergreen, Sherry Lee (Claud) Aaron of Louisiana and Denese (Carl) Hadley of Brewton; one brother, Buster Ryals of Mobile; two sisters, Doris Morris of Brewton and Beth Madden of Brewton; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Ballard and Janie Belle Ryals; her husband, Mason Lee Godwin; brother, Jr. Ballard; and three sisters, Dorothy, Ethelene Golden and Louise Johnson.
Funeral services were held Sun., Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Jernigan officiating.
Interment followed in Buffington Cemetery in Castleberry, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Raymond Grace
Tew, Jr.

Pembroke Pines, Fla.

Raymond Grace Tew, Jr., died Mon., Dec. 15, 2014, at Memorial Pembroke Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Fla., following a brief illness.
He leaves his loving wife, Inez (Amortegui); his daughters, Vicki Wilcox, Eva McInnis, and Stephanie Spicer; one brother, Stephen Henry Tew; three sisters, Grace Ponder, Louise South and Patricia Tew; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; as well as many close friends. Loving family members by marriage include: Elsy Jimenez, Elvira Amortegui, Maria Amortegui, Tatiana Benson, Anton Benson, Derrick Benson and Remi Benson.
Grandchildren: Jennifer (Wilcox) VanAusdal, Heather (Wilcox) Seegmiller, Terry Wilcox, Jr., Samantha Wilcox, David Wilcox, Joseph Wilcox, Bryan McNally, Catherine McNally, Paula Spicer, Robin Spicer, and Ava Harrison.
He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Grace Tew; his mother, Jessie Eulalia (Spivey) Tew; sister, Anita Powers; brother, Roland Allen Tew; and granddaughter, Jennifer VanAusdal.
He was born and raised in Brewton and was especially close to his identical twin, Roland (retired U.S. Army Veteran). He worked as a school teacher, basketball coach, served and retired both from the US Navy and US Immigration.
A decorated war veteran, he retired a Chief Petty Officer. His medals and commendations include: two combat action ribbons, campaign medal, battle ship medal, exceptional behavior and leadership medal, Vietnam campaign medal, Vietnam service medal, three Bronze stars, Marine and Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal, Multinational Force and Observers Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, four Exceptional Service Stripes, and a Presidential Commendation Medal for Battle in Viet Nam.
His duties included mechanical engineering and construction in the Seabees and with ordnance.
He was a published writer and frequently wrote letters to the editor of local newspapers that were published more frequently than not.
He loved playing chess and always had a long distance game going with his brother, Roland.
He enjoyed fast food, especially McDonalds hamburgers (with no pickles), empanadas and Corona with lime.
He loved to play his guitar and sing.
He also liked Willie Nelson and University of Alabama football.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., Dec. 19, at Landmark Funeral Home in Hollywood, Fla. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Fla.

Brewton

Gertha Roshell Barnett Wallace, 93, of Victoria Street Brewton, passed away Monday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2014, at her residence after a brief illness.
She was a native of Opp and a long time resident of Brewton.
She was a member of Ridge Road Baptist Church, retired from Super Foods Grocery Store Meat Department with 22 years of service, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Sandy) Wallace of Brewton; two daughters, Linda White of Brewton and Gail (Don) Topole of Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Eliz Emmons of Brewton; two son-in-laws, Sammy Day of Brewton and Franklin Emmons of Brewton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lear Barnett; her husband, JD Wallace; a son, Clyde Cecil Wallace; a daughter, Frances Allene Day; one son-in-law, Johnny Mack White; three brothers; two sisters; and two sister-in-laws.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday morning Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Headley officiating.
Interment will follow in Ridge Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Brewton, Alabama with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
