JDCC basketball drops first conference game of the season

In their first conference game of the season Thursday at Bishop State, the Wildcats handed the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team at 73-65 loss.
JDCC, now 2-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play, trailed Bishop State 40-25 after one half of play.
In the second half, JDCC outscored the Wildcats 40-33, but took the loss by eight points.
Three Warhawks scored in double figures with Keenan Williams leading the way with 19 points. Adrian Rich followed closely behind with 16 points while Jerry Aaron totaled 10.
Fletcher Forte chipped in nine points while Brandon Davis had five and Darren Wilson had four. Ty’Qwan Bonner added two points in the loss.
Williams led with four offensive rebounds while Aaron led with eight on defense and nine total. Williams also led with four assists.
Davis finished with three steals to lead the Warhawks in the loss while Wilson led with two blocks.
The Warhawks were 14-for-19 from the free throw line, shot 38.3 percent from the field and was 5-for-21 from the 3-point area.
JDCC gave up 21 points on 22 offensive rebounds for Bishop State.
The Warhawks were scheduled to host Enterprise State Tuesday in a conference game and will host Faulkner State Wed., Jan. 14, at 7 p.m., before hitting the road for two conference games at Chattahoochee Valley and Wallace-Selma.
JDCC will host Alabama Southern on Mon., Jan. 26, at 7 p.m.
