JDCC baseball takes split at Faulkner University

In their first road game of the season Tuesday at Faulkner University in Montgomery, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team earned their second straight split.
Just like in their home and season opener Saturday against CACC, JDCC lost game one, but claimed a win in the second game of the day.
JDCC took an 8-5 loss in game one, but claimed a 6-5 win in game two.
With the split, the Warhawks moved to 2-2 overall.
In the game one loss Tuesday, with the game tied 5-5 after five innings, the Warhawks gave up three runs to Faulkner in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the loss by three runs.
At the plate for the Warhawks of JDCC, Brandon Davis went 2-for-4 with a double and Dake Rivers was 1-for-3.
Heath Young was 1-for-4 and Brandon Goins was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Chad Simmons was 1-for-3 with a double while Bailey Hansen was 2-for-2 with one RBI.
On the mound for the Warhawks, Nick Boswell, Nick Helton, Matt Gillis, and Chase Laney all pitched.
The quartet of pitchers pitched six innings and allowed eight hits, eight runs, seven earned, walked four, struck out five and hit three batters.
The Warhawks committed one error in the loss while Faulkner made three.
In game two, the Warhawks used a five-run third inning to take a 6-0 lead, but had to hold on for the win by one run.
After a scoreless first inning for both teams, JDCC built their 6-0 lead with one run in the second inning and five in the third. From there, Faulkner plated three of their own in the third inning and two in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-5.
Gregory Ciangiatto led the Warhawks in the win at the plate as he went a prefect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a homerun. John-Mark Cosby went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs
Riley Stokes went 1-for-3, Brandon Bilek went 1-for-4 with one RBI, for TRM Tiger Caden Lodge was 1-for-2, and Austin Armstrong had one RBI in the win.
Dylan Johnson, Bailey Hansen and Ryan Gauci all pitched in the win with Johnson being the pitcher of record.
Johnson went two innings and allowed two hits, three runs, two earned, walked four and struck out three.
Hansen and Gauci went the final five innings and allowed four hits, two runs, two earned, walked none and struck out three.
Both teams committed two errors each in the game.
JDCC is scheduled to play at Jones County Junior College in Mississippi on Saturday at 2 p.m. The game will be a doubleheader.
The Warhawks will return home on Tues., Feb. 10, against Pensacola State. The game is scheduled as one nine-inning game.
