JDCC softball earns sweep of Huntingdon, but gets swept by Jones County Sunday

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team picked up their first wins of the season Friday night at Huntingdon College in Montgomery.
The Lady Warhawks improved to 2-4 overall this season as they claimed a 12-5 win over Huntingdon in game one and a 3-2 win in game two.
On Sunday at home against Jones County Junior College, JDCC suffered a doubleheader sweep to fall to 2-6 overall.
In game one Sunday, JDCC lost 10-1 before suffering a 4-0 loss in game two.
The Warhawks will play at the Sun Chief Classic Friday and Saturday in Gulf Shores.
Friday game one: JDCC 12, Huntingdon 5
In game one Friday at Huntingdon, JDCC pounded out 17 hits to propel them to a 12-5 win for their first win of the season.
After both teams were held scoreless for the first two innings, JDCC used a 3-run third inning to build a 3-0 lead and took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the inning, Huntingdon rallied with four runs of their own to tie the game at 4-all.
From there, JDCC outscored Huntingdon 8-1 in the final three innings to get the win by seven. JDCC used a five-run fifth inning to aid them in the win.
At the plate for JDCC, Audrey Hamric was 3-for-4 with one RBI while Hannah Brake was 3-for-5 with a homerun and two RBIs. Jordan Swindle added a homerun and three RBIs as she went 3-for-4 for the day.
Caroline Clark was 2-for-3 with a double while Chelsey Ramer was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Alicia Richardson went 3-for-4 with one RBI, a homerun and a double.
Shaquana Jones and Katlin Bryars were both 1-for-2. Bryars added a double and three RBIs.
Kaitlin Hadaway earned the pitching win as she went all seven innings and allowed seven hits, five runs, four earned, walked two and struck out eight.
Friday game two: JDCC 3, Huntingdon 2
In game two, Hannah Brake led JDCC to a 3-2 win over Huntingdon.
Not only did Brake earn the pitching win as she went five innings and allowed five hits, two runs, one earned, walked one and struck out three, but she used a 1-for-2 day at the plate.
Brake hit her fourth homerun in three games as she hit a three-run homerun in the third inning to give JDCC a 3-1 lead over Huntingdon. Huntingdon added one run in the fourth, but JDCC earned the win by one.
Also at the plate for JDCC, Paige Wooley went a perfect 3-for-3 while Swindle was 1-for-3, Savannah Allen was 1-for-1 and Ramer was 1-for-2.
Sunday game one: Jones County 10, JDCC 1
In game one Sunday, JDCC was held to one run on three hits and made three errors as they suffered a 10-1 loss to Jones.
JDCC’s lone run came in the fifth inning while Jones led 1-0 after one inning, 6-0 after two innings, 7-0 after four innings, 8-1 after five innings and added two more runs in the sixth inning.
Wooley went 2-for-3 with one RBI while Swindle was 1-for-3.
Brake took the pitching loss as she went six innings and allowed eight hits, 10 runs, four earned, walked seven and struck out three. Brake hit two batters in the loss.
Sunday game two: Jones County 4, JDCC 0
In game two, Jones County earned a 4-0 win to claim a sweep over the Lady Warhawks.
Jones scored one run in the fourth inning and three in the sixth inning to get the win by four.
JDCC was held to four hits in the loss as Brake, Allen, Moriah Trujillo and Ramer all had one hit each.
Hadaway took the pitching loss as she went all seven innings and allowed eight hits, four runs, three earned, walked one and struck out six.
