JDCC softball wins one game in Gulf Shores

Playing in Gulf Shores Friday and Saturday in the Sun Chief Classic, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks’ softball team went 1-4 to drop their overall record to 3-10 this season.
The Lady Warhawks opened the Classic Friday against Lamar State College-Port Arthur with a 19-7 loss. JDCC then finished play Friday with a 9-4 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
After going 0-2 Friday, JDCC opened play Saturday with a 9-1 win over Baton Rouge. In their next two games, JDCC lost to LSU-Eunice 12-0 and finished play Saturday with a 9-5 loss to Gadsden State.
Lamar State 19, JDCC 7
With JDCC leading 7-6 after five innings, Lamar scored five runs in the sixth inning and eight in the seventh to romp JDCC 19-7. The Lady Warhawks had 13 hits and seven errors in the loss while Lamar pounded out 20 hits and committed three errors.
For JDCC at the plate, Alicia Richardson had a double while Paige Wooley had a triple. Hannah Brake and Jordan Swindle each had a homerun. Swindle led with three RBIs while Richardson had two.
Kaitlin Hadaway and Brake pitched in the loss with Brake being the pitcher of record.
MGCCC 9, JDCC 4
JDCC let another late lead slip away as they led MGCCC 4-3 after four innings but gave up two in the fifth and four in the sixth to take the loss by five.
Wooley and Swindle had a double each while Wooley led with two RBIs. Swindle and Moriah Trujillo had one RBI each. Wooley led with two hits in the loss.
No pitching stats were known as of press time.
JDCC 9, Baton Rouge 1
Wooley, Swindle and Richardson all led with three hits and Hadaway pitched JDCC to a 9-1 win over Baton Rouge.
Hadaway went six innings and allowed five hits, one earned run, walked three and struck out three.
Swindle and Richardson had a double each while Chelsey Ramer had a triple.
Swindle, Paige Lambeth, Katlin Bryars, Ramer and Trujillo all had one RBI each while Richardson had two.
LSU-Eunice 12, JDCC 0
JDCC was held to one hit and no runs as they suffered a 12-0 loss to LSU-Eunice.
Katlin Hamilton had the lone hit.
Bryars, Brake and Hadaway all pitched in the loss.
Gadsden State 9, JDCC 5
Gadsden State scored seven runs in the second inning to send JDCC home with a 9-5 loss.
Brake went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and a double in the loss. Wooley added two hits while Swindle and Savannah Allen both had one RBI each.
Brake and Hadaway pitched in the loss.
