A Brewton man was injured in Monday log truck accident on U.S. Hwy. 29.
The victim, identified by family as 30-year-old Garrett Tindell, was operating a log truck owned by John Lee Johnson Logging of East Brewton.
The accident occurred at the 9-mile marker when the truck left the roadway and overturned.
It took emergency crews more than an hour to extricate Tindell from the wreckage.
Members of the Ridge Road Volunteer Fire Department and Brewton Fire Department, as well as D.W. McMillan ambulance crews, Escambia County Rescue Squad, Escambia County Sheriffs’ Department and Alabama State Troopers worked the scene.
Conway Diesel Company of Evergreen was called to the scene to help lift the truck up to remove the driver.
Tindell was transported to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital by ambulance and was listed in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
A mobile home at the scene of the wreck also received property damage from the logs on the truck.
Alabama State Trooper Officer Dean said witnesses told him speed may have been a factor in the wreck; however, the crash remains under investigation.
“All we know as of this time is there was a one vehicle rollover and a lot of property damage,” Officer Dean said on the scene Monday.
