TRM and WSN JV baseball teams split Monday in Brewton

The T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal JV baseball teams split a doubleheader Monday in Brewton.
TRM took game one 9-7 while WSN took game two by a score of 9-5.
With the split, the Tigers improved to 4-5 this season while WSN improved to 4-6.
Game one: TRM JV 9, WSN JV 7
With WSN leading 5-3 after the top of the third inning, the TRM Tigers outscored WSN 6-2 the rest of the game to come out with a 9-7 win over the Eagles.
Joshua Winton earned the pitching win for TRM as he went three innings and allowed five runs on six hits, struck out four, walked two and hit one batter. Twin brother Caleb Winton earned the save as he went two innings and allowed two runs on two hits, struck out five and walked one.
TRM’s Stokes Jennings and Russell Smith had two hits each while Trentez Johnson, Daniel Reed and O’Neil White all had one each.
For WSN, Sam Frazier and Kristian Taylor pitched with Frazier taking the loss. The duo went four innings and allowed five earned runs, walked six, struck out six and hit three batters.
At the plate for WSN, Taylor, Frazier, PJ Lovelace, Matt Hutchins, Troy Lewis, Jordan Madden and Cameron Taylor all had hits. Bryce Booker had two hits. Lewis and Taylor had a double each while Lovelace, Hutchins, Lewis and Madden had one RBI each.
Game two: WSN JV 9, TRM JV 5
In game two, with the game tied at 3-all after three innings, WSN scored six runs in the fourth inning and held TRM to two more in the fifth to get the win by four.
Jeremy Gafford and Weston Riddle pitched for WSN with Gafford earning the win. The duo went five innings and allowed four hits, five runs, four earned, walked four, hit two and struck out seven.
At the plate, Taylor and Frazier had one hit each while Hutchins and Ty Purvis had two each. Frazier and Purvis had one RBI each while Lewis had two.
For TRM, Jennings, Ty McFerrin, Blake Schoonover and Tyler Baxter all had one hit each.
Jennings, Smith and Caleb Winton all pitched in the loss with Smith being the pitcher of record.
Jennings went three innings and allowed three runs on four hits, walked three, hit one and struck out five.
Smith went one inning and allowed six runs, none earned, two hits, walked three and struck out three. TRM made four errors in the inning.
Caleb Winton went one inning and struck out three.
