Laura Mae Weaver Day

Laura Mae Weaver Day, 91, of Cook Street in East Brewton, passed away Sun., March 29, 2015, at a North Okaloosa Hospital in Crestview, Fla., after a brief illness.
She was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cedar Hill Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Sammy Day of Brewton; one daughter, Pauline Ward of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Amelia Drollinger of Appleton, and Lorane Burrell and Ruth Nolan, both of Brewton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Day, and her son, James Day.
Graveside funeral services were held Tues., March 31, at 1 p.m. at Weaver Family Cemetery on U.S. Hwy. 29 in Brewton with the Rev. Ron Headley officiating, and Craver’s Funeral Home, Inc. of Brewton directing.

Shelby ‘Cotton Top’ Jearl Searcy Sr.

Shelby “Cotton Top” Jearl Searcy Sr., 77, of Leland Nall Road in Brewton, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 25, 2015, at his daughters residence after a brief illness.
He was a native and life long resident of Brewton.
He was of the Holiness faith and a retired millwright from Swift Lumber Company.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by two sons, Shelby J. (Shelly) Searcy Jr. of Flomaton and Michael (Karen) Searcy of Brewton; two daughters, Linda (James) Ballard and Brenda (Autrey) Odom, both of Brewton; two brothers, Therold Searcy of Texas and Daryl Searcy of Range; one sister, Quida Grissett of Brewton; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sat., March 28, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Merritt and the Rev. Mike Hutto officiating.
Interment followed in Canaan Cemetery in Brewton, Alabama with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Betty Lorene Luker Crutchfield

Betty Lorene Luker Crutchfield, 74, of Schad Street in East Brewton, passed away Tues., March 24, 2015, in a Pensacola, Fla., medical facility after a brief illness.
She was a native of Pensacola, Fla., and a long time resident of East Brewton.
She was a member of the Range Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Crutchfield of East Brewton; one son, Steve Crutchfield of East Brewton, one daughter, Iris (Randy) Jordan of East Brewton; one grandson, Steve Crutchfield; four sisters; two half-sisters; and two half-brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Florence Hastings Luker; and foster parents, Harmon and Olivia Parker.
Funeral services were held on Wed., March 26, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Home Church in Munson, Fla., with Elder Clifford Parker officiating.
Interment followed in Pleasant Home Church Cemetery in Munson, Fla., with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Chester Leon Morrison, 80, of Victory Street in East Brewton, passed away Sat., March 28, 2015, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was a native and former resident of Conecuh County before moving to East Brewton in 1961.
He was a member of the Brewton First Baptist Church, a 1952 graduate of Lyeffion High School, a former truck driver for T.R. Miller Mill Company and Schneider Truck Line.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Ellis Morrison of East Brewton; one son, Keith (Cindy) Morrison of Montgomery; two daughters, Sharon Morrison (David) Blair of East Brewton and Dyanna Morrison of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, Joe (Diane) Morrison of Evergreen, Jimmy (Linda) Morrison of Tallassee, and Donald (Laura) Morrison of Montgomery; two sisters, Juanita (Jim) McCeary of Milton, Fla., and Brenda (Scott) Windham of Evergreen; three grandchildren, Jonathon (Meagan) Blair, Molly (Jordan) Hand and Miller Morrison; and one great-granddaughter, Ella Cole Blair.
Graveside services were held on Wed., March 31, at 10 a.m. at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Fitts officiating.
Interment followed in Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Mamie Lee Quinley, 86, passed away Thurs., March 26, 2015, at West Gate Village Nursing Home.
A native of Escambia County, she was a homemaker and a cook for a hotel in Century, Fla.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Baptist Church in Pollard.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Flora) Quinley of Montgomery, and Melvin (Tora) Jay of Brewton; one daughter, Willie Mae (Ernest) Williams of Evergreen; and one sister, Priscilla Pearl McWhorter of Colorado. Quinley had 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Fri., April 3, at Jones Unity Funeral Home in Monroeville from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Sat., April 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Baptist Church in Pollard.
Interment will follow at Pollard Cemetery with the Rev. Willie Frank Osby officiating.
Jones Unity Funeral Home of Monroeville will be directing.
Dianne Evelyn Burch Beasley

Dianne Evelyn Burch Beasley, 67, of Beasley Road in Brewton, passed away Mon., March 30, 2015, at her residence after a brief illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County.
She attended Canaan Free Will Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sylvester Beasley of Brewton; one brother, Raymond Burch of Brewton; and two grandchildren, Lindsey Norton and Whitney Norton.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Beasley Norton; four sisters, Birtie Harris, Verbal Merritt, Estelle Smith and– Bertha Mae Few Wilson; and one brother, Earl Burch.
Visitation will be held Thurs., April 2, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Funeral services are scheduled for Fri., April 3, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Waylon Stucky officiating.
Interment will follow in Wallace Methodist Church Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
