JDCC baseball sweeps SHC, but gets swept by Dothan

After sweeping Spring Hill in a home doubleheader Monday, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks baseball team was on the other end of a sweep Thursday at home against Wallace State-Dothan.
On Monday, JDCC defeated Spring Hill 6-0 and 10-0, but on Thursday, was swept by Dothan 3-0 and 4-3.
The 2-2 record in their last four games made JDCC’s overall record 17-21. The two conference losses to Dothan Thursday made JDCC 10-12 in conference play.
Game one Monday: JDCC 6, SHC 0
JDCC pitchers Matt Gillis, Chase Laney, Dalton Edwards and Ryan Gauci all held SHC to two hits and no runs to lead JDCC to a 6-0 win over the Badgers.
The quartet of pitchers combined to go seven innings and allowed no runs while striking out eight and hitting two batters. Gillis earned the win on the mound.
At the plate for the Warhawks, Bailey Hansen and Brandon Bilek both had a double each while Craig Headley had a triple. Justin Abdo, Hansen, Bilek and Taylor Baynes all had one RBI each.
Hansen led with three hits while Headley had two. Alec Talley, Bilek and Caden Lodge all had one hit each.
Game two Monday: JDCC 10, SHC 0
JDCC got their second straight shutout in game two Monday as they posted a 10-0 win.
Nick Helton and Abdo pitched in the win and combined to go six innings and allowed five hits, no runs, walked two and struck out three. Helton earned the win.
At the plate, Heath Young and Talley had a double each while Young had one RBI and Talley had two. Chad Simmons had one in the win.
Riley Stokes and Simmons led with two hits each. Brandon Davis, Dake Rivers, Talley, Bilek and Young all had one hit each.
Game one Thursday: WSD 3, JDCC 0
Despite outhitting WSD 10-8, JDCC was blanked in game one Thursday as they took a 3-0 loss. JDCC made four errors in the loss.
Brandon Davis, Young and Talley had two hits each while Headley, Stokes, Tyler Joyner and Rivers had one each. Young, Davis, Stokes and Headley all had doubles.
Riley Hodge, Gillis and Laney pitched in the loss with Hodge being the pitcher of record.
The trio combined to go nine innings and allowed eight hits, three runs, one earned, walked three, struck out nine and hit one batter.
JDCC left 14 runners on base.
Game two Thursday: WSD 4, JDCC 3
Down 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, JDCC plated two runs to cut the lead to 4-3, but took the loss by one to suffer the sweep to WSD.
Davis and Stokes had two hits each to lead JDCC while Goins, Young and Greg Ciangiotto had one each.
Goins led with two RBIs while Stokes had one.
Goins, Davis and Ciangiotto had a double each in the loss.
Joyner and Laney pitched in the loss with Joyner being the pitcher of record.
The duo combined to go seven innings and allowed nine hits, four runs, three earned, walked one and struck out three.
