JDCC softball sweeps Wallace Dothan for fourth straight win; starts play at state Friday

The Jefferson Davis Community College softball team ended their conference schedule on a four-game winning streak as they earned their second straight sweep.
JDCC swept LBW Southern last week and came away with a sweep of Wallace-Dothan Tuesday as they won 5-0 and 3-0. The wins moved JDCC to 31-25 overall and to 15-9 in conference play.
In game one Tuesday, JDCC pitcher Kaitlin Hadaway pitched a complete game shutout as she went all seven innings and allowed six hits, no runs, walked one and struck out seven.
At the plate, Paige Wooley, Jordan Swindle, Savannah Allen, Katlin Bryars and Tabitha Turner all had one hit each while Chelsey Ramer led with two hits. Wooley and Bryars had two RBIs each while Turner had one.
In game two, JDCC got another shutout as they captured the sweep.
Hannah Brake and Hadaway combined to earn the shutout in the circle as they combined to go seven innings and allowed five hits, no runs, no walked and struck out three. Brake, who earned the win, hit one batter.
At the plate, Brake led with three hits and two RBIs and a homerun. Wooley and Swindle had two this each while Caroline Clark had one. Clark added one RBI in the win.
JDCC was to end their regular season Wednesday with a road game at Pensacola State. JDCC will travel to the regional tournament Friday in Alabaster. A schedule of games was not known as of press time.
JDCC’s first game is Friday against Gadsden State at noon.
Due to having to finish conference play up Tuesday, JDCC’s conference games against Bishop State and LBW that were rained out will not be made up.
