A new church has opened in the East Brewton area, and Pastor Fred C. Billy and his wife Gayle will serve as the pastors.
Called New Life Family Church, it is located at 1108 Forrest Avenue in East Brewton.
The Billys, with their three children, left Brewton in 1974 to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Fred was saved December 1973, and in answer to God’s call to full time ministry, they put their house up for sale and went to seminary.
After completing seminary in 1976, the couple was led to start a new church in a pioneer mission area in Madison, Ohio. Since then the two have been in more than 20 countries on different mission projects as well as pastoring and planting churches in Florida and Georgia.
“We thought our mission work may be over, but our amazing God had other plans,” Fred said. “He led us back to their hometowns of Brewton and East Brewton to start the exciting New Life Family Church. The church is meeting in the old New Life church facilities at the corner of Forrest avenue and Andrew Jackson Street.”
Fred said New Life Family Church is a non-denominational church with the three major goals.
“We want to help people to come to know Christ as Lord and Savior, to grow up in Christ then go with for Christ,” he said. “The church motto is ‘Knowing, Growing and Going.’”
New Life Family Church gathers for worship each Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. followed by a fellowship pot luck meal in the fellowship hall.
“Everyone has a standing invitation to worship and fellowship with us at New Life Family Church.”
