EB 8U all-stars cruise to win over Evergreen, Brewton falls to Opp

The 8U Cal Ripken all-star baseball tournament kicked off Thursday afternoon in Brewton and East Brewton’s all-stars came away with a big win over Evergreen while Brewton took a loss to Opp.
East Brewton moved to 1-0 in tournament play as they downed Evergreen 25-0 in four innings.
EB scored four runs in the first inning, seven in the second and 14 in the third inning to get the win.
For East Brewton at the plate, Eli Stone had four single and Jman Jones had two singles. Tate Brooks and Elias Kelly had a single each while CJ Gibson added two singles. Scooda Gaines added two singles and a double. Conner Nelson had three singles, Dylan Pettis had two and Luke Brown added a double.
Evergreen made 14 errors in the loss.
Opp 22, Brewton 10
With Brewton leading Opp 7-6 after two innings, the Opp all-stars used a 12-run third inning to put the game away and to defeat Brewton 22-10.
Brewton led Opp 3-0 after one inning, but fell behind 6-3 after the top of the second. In the bottom half of the inning, Brewton plated four of their own to take a 7-6 lead.
In the third inning, Opp scored 12 runs on seven hits and seven Brewton errors to take an 18-7 lead. After Brewton failed to score in the fourth, Opp added four more runs to build a 22-7 lead. Brewton scored three in the fourth, but took the mercy-run rule loss by 12.
At the plate for Brewton, Tyler Hoomes had a single and Jonah Winton had a double.
James Feely added three singles and John Moored added a single.
Nathan Commander had a single in the loss and Alex Daniel had two single. Langley Folsom finished with a single and John Robert Jernigan added two singles.
