Brewton 10U softball goes 2-2 at state

Brewton’s 10U softball team went 2-2 in its state tournament games in Brewton.
Brewton opened up with a 10-0 loss to Tri-County on Thursday before going 2-0 on Friday.
On Friday, Brewton defeated Covington County 14-12 and Alex City 27-9 to go 2-1 in pool play. Brewton earned the No. 2 seed in the single elimination part of the tournament.
In the single elimination game, Brewton lost to CC 3-1 to be eliminated from tournament play. CC went on to defeat Tri-County in the state championship game.
GAME ONE: TRI-COUNTY 10, BREWTON 0 (4 innings)
In their first game of the tournament Thursday, Brewton lost to Tri-County 10-0 in four inning.
Tri-County scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second and six in the third inning to get the win mercy run win.
Jennings Ruzic reached base twice for Brewton while Peyton Myrick got on base one time.
Ruzic took the pitching loss for Brewton.
Friday game one: Brewton 14, CC 12
In their second game of pool play, Brewton edged out CC 14-12. Brewton scored five runs each in the second and third innings to aid them in the win.
Ruzic scored two twice in the win along with Ansley Till and Emily Morgan. Brooklyn Ball and Jada Mitchell scored.
Friday game two:
Brewton 27, Alex City 9
In their second game Friday, Brewton cruised to an easy 27-9 win over Alex City.
Brewton scored 21 runs in the second inning to get the big win.
No other stats or game information was known as of press time.
Saturday: CC 3, Brewton 1
In the single elimination part of the tournament Saturday morning, Brewton suffered a 3-1 loss to Covington County to get eliminated.
Brewton’s lone run came in the third inning while CC scored one in the second, third and fourth innings.
Ruzic scored the lone run off a single by Ansley Till. Ruzic reached on a double. Myrick had Brewton’s other hit.
McKenzie Thomas pitched in the loss as she went six innings and allowed two hits, three runs, walked four, hit one and struck out two.
