While the games will not officially count, the new era of T.R. Miller volleyball under former Lady Tiger and new head coach Terri Lynne Peacock will begin Thurs., July 30, as the Lady Tigers will host a summer play-date.
The Lady Tigers will host an 18-team play-date starting at 9 a.m. Thursday. It will be the third straight year the play-date has been held.
Eight varsity teams, six junior varsity teams and four middle school teams will play on three different courts in a day filled with summer volleyball games.
Varsity teams will include T.R. Miller, Jay, W.S. Neal, Excel, Northview, Straughn, Monroe County and Andalusia.
JV teams will include TRM, WSN, Straughn, Monroe County, Andalusia, and Excel. Middle school teams will include Brewton, WSNMS, Excel and Andalusia.
All varsity teams will play three games. All JV and middle school teams will play two games.
Action will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude with the final game set for 4 p.m. The main court at Brewton Middle School will see action and will be court one for the day while court two will be the PE gym while the second PE gym at BMS will be court three.
All games will be best two-of-three format. With the third game being played to 15.
A concession stand will be available along with KONA ICE Icees.
The PE gyms at BMS have no seating so those planning to attend games on those courts are asked to bring chairs to sit in. Game times will be moved up if previous game finishes early.
T.R. Miller’s varsity will play at 9 a.m., noon, and 4 p.m. while W.S. Neal’s varsity will play at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. as well.
T.R. Miller’s JV team will play at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. while W.S. Neal’s JV team will play at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Brewton Middle School’s team will play at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. while W.S. Neal’s will play at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
