Nellie’s Thrift is a small-town business with one goal: “We want people to shop locally. We are here for the community,” said thrift shop owner Joanne Madewell.
Nellie’s Thrift has been open for five months. Madewell credits street traffic in choosing the store’s location. “East Brewton is a good opportunity. A lot of traffic goes by travelling to and from Florida.”
The atmosphere is customer-friendly, and the store is loaded with a variety of items including furniture, antiques and clothes. “We have sizes that fit all,” said Madewell, “We have a little bit of everything. If we don’t have it we’ll try to get it.”
The store also takes pride in its community work. “We donate what we can to people in need. We had a girl work with us through the school system for credit this summer,” said Madewell.
“We just want people to know we’re here,” said Madewell, “Right now we’re working on a sale on all summer wear. Come check us out.”
Nellie’s Thrift is located at 801 Forrest Ave., East Brewton, across from Fred’s. Donations are accepted.
Store hours are 9 a.m. through 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. For info on merchandise and auto detail shop, call 251.538.0642.
