W.S. Neal is coming off its first loss of the season to UMS-Wright. This week the team will celebrate its homecoming against the Calhoun Tigers, sho are 0-5 this year.
Throughout the season, opponents have outscored the Tigers, 464-71. In head to head matchup, Neal is 9-0 against Calhoun.
Neal head coach Doug Hoehn knows on paper Neal looks like the clear-cut favorite but he doesn’t want his team to buy into anything other than what’s in his team’s control.
“I think it’s important for us to determine success on how we play and not how Calhoun plays.”
Hoehn said his team needs to improve on Friday night’s play.
“We need to execute on offense and defense, take care of the football and eliminate penalties,” he said. “We need to play at a level that’s competitive on a weekly basis.
Hoehn said he knows Calhoun has some athletes that can cause problems.
“They have a couple athletic kids. We just have to identify them and limit their success.”
Neal will face Calhoun at home. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
