The 7-1 T.R. Miller Tigers will travel to Excel to face the Panthers this Friday.
Excel is 1-7 this season. The Tigers are coming off a bye week. TRM head coach Jamie Riggs said the time off was a good break for his team.
“Last week we took some time off,” Riggs said. “We had some good practices Wednesday and Thursday. The bye week gave us some time to heal up and get rest mentally. Hopefully we’re ready to go now.
“The time off also allowed us to work on a few things that normally we don’t have as much time to work on from week to week like our kicking game and two minute offense.”
Riggs said Excel runs an offensive scheme that the Tigers haven’t seen very much.
The game will be the Tigers last matchup against a region opponent this season. The team has not lost a game since week one this season, outscoring opponents 218-126.
Excel lost last week to Geneva, 34-8 and is 2-3 in the region. Points have been hard to come by this season for Excel as the team is being outscored 96-266.
Kick off is at 7 p.m.

The 6-2 W.S Neal Eagles will travel to face the Southside Selma Panthers.
The Panthers are 2-6 this season and coming off a 48-32 loss to Clarke County.
Neal is coming off a 42-21 win against Satsuma. This is Neal’s last region game this year. As with any game, head football coach Doug Hoehn knows of its importance.
“It’s a region game so its very important; especially playoff implications,” Hoehn said. “But it’s important because it’s the next game on our schedule and that’s the way we look at it.
“We can’t take a break on defense or they will score on us,” Hoehn said. “So we have to play focused football. We have to play every snapthe ball.”
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
