On Mon., Dec. 7 the T.R. Miller JV, varsity girls and boys teams defeated Bayside

The JV TRM Tigers opened the evening up winning their first game of the season. The game was tied up nine to nine going in to the half. Miller would outscore Bayside 22-16 in the second half to win the game.

Leading the Tigers were Stokes Jennings with 12 points and Michael Campbell with seven points.

The Lady Tigers entered their matchup against Bayside 1-2 so far for the season.  After some good ball movement and spacing of the floor on offense and pressure on the defensive end, Miller would win the game 50-32.

Leading the Lady Tigers were Mekhia Williams with 16 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals; Kyla Bell with 11 points and six rebounds; Steely Ruzic with nine points, three rebounds and three assists; and Aleria Smith with eight points and five rebounds.

The T.R. Miller Tigers boys’ varsity played the first three quarters with what seemed like the game in hand going into the fourth, outscoring Bayside 49-32. Bayside would make a run late in the game, pulling to within one point with 5.2 seconds left on the clock and possession of the ball.

On their final offensive play, Bayside would air ball the shot and the Tigers would survive a comeback for their first win of the season.

“I thought we played tremendously hard to start the game,” said TRM head coach Juan Johnson. “We made a few mistakes down the stretch but we found a way to win the game. Give Bayside a lot of credit, they have an outstanding ball team. We will go back and watch the film and find out more about ourselves and we’ll go from there.”

Leading the Tigers was Chardian Johnson who eclipsed the 1,000-point mark as a Tiger. He broke the mark after going 3-4 behind the three-point line in the opening minutes of the first quarter. For the game Johnson had 22 points six rebounds. Ahmaud Taylor recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
