Phyllis Kaye Dixon Martin

Brewton

 

Phyllis Kaye Dixon Martin, 68, of Pine Street, Brewton, passed away Fri., Feb. 12, 2016, in a local nursing facility after an extended illness.

Funeral services were held on Tues., Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Watts officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native of California, a former resident of Key West, Fla., and Cuba before moving to Brewton.

She was a member of the East Brewton First Baptist Church, a 1965 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, and a former insurance adjuster with Escambia Insurance Agency with more than 10 years of service.

She is survived by her father, Burl Dixon of East Brewton; son, Russell Martin of East Brewton; daughter, Ami Martin (Tom) Hill of East Brewton; brother, Tim (Elaine) Dixon of Laurel Hill, Fla.; sister, Laura (Doug) Kervin of Brewton; two grandchildren, Kathryn Sisco and Kayla Mulkey; two great-grandchildren, Camryn Malave and Cayden Malave.

Mitchell Scott Cooper

Mobile

 

Mitchell Scott Cooper, 59, of Mobile, passed away Wed., Feb. 10, 2016, at his residence after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Sat., Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Mike Edwards and George Jones officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native and former resident of Brewton, before moving to Mobile. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Brewton and Mobile, and a 1975 graduate of T.R. Miller High School.

He attended Auburn University, where he was on the golf team, and Mobile College where he earned a business degree. He was employed as an insurance agent and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his mother, Jackie Roberts Martin of Mobile; daughter, Emily Ann Cooper of East Brewton; brother, Greg (Patty) Cooper of Pittsburg, Penn.; sister, Celeste (George) Jones of Lamone, Iowa; nieces, Hannah Jones and Emma Cooper; nephews, Tyler Jones, Cooper Jones and Nathan Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Floyd Cooper; his stepfather, Ben L. Martin Jr., and sister, Leslie Cooper.

 

Mel Anthony ‘Tony’ Tagudar

Brewton

 

Mel Anthony “Tony” Tagudar, 49, of James Mill Road, Brewton, passed away Sat. Feb. 13, 2016, in a Mobile hospital after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held today, Feb. 17, 2016, from noon until 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton.

Funeral services will follow at the Williams Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. James Preuett officiating.

Interment with will follow in Calvary Mennonite Church Cemetery Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

He was a native of Athens, Ga., and a long time resident of Brewton. He was of the Baptist faith.

He attended North Brewton School and was employed as a deck hand with Cooper Marine. He was an avid fisherman and he loved all of his family and friends.

He is survived by his father, Mel Tagudar of the Philippines; godmother, Elaine Grandison of Brewton; wife, Denise Hadley of Brewton; son, Craig (Crystal) Tagudar of Mobile; daughter, Brittany (Lavelle) Tagudar of Mobile, brother, Jeffrey Tagudar of Mobile; three sisters, Melody (Wade) Wilcox of Castleberry, Nina (John) Stokes of Robertsdale and Misty Alvarez of Virginia; stepson, Casey Coleman of Raburn; stepdaughter, Melinda (Jeremy) Harville of Germany; seven grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Tammy Tagudar.

Georgia Ann Lee English

Repton

 

Georgia Ann Lee Englisha, 90, of the Range Community, passed away Thurs., Feb. 11, 2016, at her residence after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Sun. Feb. 14, at 3 p.m. at the Range Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Boatwright officiating. Interment followed in Range Cemetery in Range, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native and life long resident of Range. She was a member of the Range Free Will Baptist Church, a former member of the Eastern Star and former member, secretary and treasurer of the Range Volunteer Fire Department for 23 and one-half years. She retired from Vanity Fair with 12 and one-half years of service and was a homemaker.

She is survived her granddaughter, Kelli Marie English of Tampa Bay, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Marilyn English of Tampa Bay, and brother-in-law James English of Range.

Velma Idaree Wiggins Norris

Velma Idaree Wiggins Norris, 86, of Opelika, passed away Sun., Feb. 14, 2016, in a Century, Fla., nursing facility after a brief illness.

Visitation was held Tues., Feb. 16, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the East Brewton Nazarene Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for today, Wed., Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. at the East Brewton Nazarene Church with the Rev. James Meadows and speaker Edgar Norris officiating.

Interment with will follow in Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

She was a native of Bratt, Fla., and a long time resident of Brewton before moving to Opelika.

She was of the Assembly of God Faith, a graduate of Ernest Ward High School and a retired secretary from D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Joy Howard, Jan (Sammy) Thomas and Camille (Stephen) Pugh, all of Brewton, Carol (Jacky) Reaves of Loxley, Michelle (David) Wilson of Andalusia, Melanie (Randy) Jordan of Opelika, Kelon Norris of Cummings, Ga., Keith (Amelia) Norris of Brewton and Steve (Dawn) Norris of Alexander City; 19 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Norris, and great grandchild, Clay Houghton.
