Billy Vaughn, 71, of Burrell Lane in Pensacola, passed away Fri., March 11, 2016 at a local hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for todat, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Rusty Burnham officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola and was of the Assembly of God faith. He attended Tate High School and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a retired letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion No. 400 and the Ensley Masonic Lodge No. 278.

He is survived by daughters, Becky (Steve) Bromley of Milton, Fla., and  Virginia (Michael) Parker of East Brewton; grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) Gorum and Peyton Parker; a brother, Walter (Jane) Vaughn of Milton;  sisters, Voncille Smith of Pensacola, and Lennie (Gene) Ward of Molino, Fla.; and mother of his children,  Dianne Lewis of Pace, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Neutward and Clara R. Denham Vaughn; a brother, Glen Vaughn; sisters, Myrtle Vaughn Strickland, Lucille Vaughn Duval, Mildred Vaughn Self and Shirley Ann Vaughn.

Leslie Lynear Morgan

Century, Fla.

 

Leslie Lynear Morgan, 68, of Century, passed away on Sat., March 5, 2016, at Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach, Va.

Funeral services were held Fri., March 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. at  Byrneville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Barrow officiating.

Interment followed in Byrneville Methodist Cemetery with full military honors and directed by Flomaton Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jason Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Christian Morgan, Deryl Hadley, Levi Brooks and Dalton Hadley.

He was a native of Pensacola and a member of the Byrneville community for 51 years.  He was retired from the United States Navy with service in aviation maintenance.

While in the military, he earned numerous medals and he was a member of the Blue Angel Alumni. He was a member of Byrneville United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Beckwith Morgan.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Zeb) Gosik of Virginia Beach, Va., and Karen (James) Jernigan of Brewton; brothers, Ronald Morgan and Henry Morgan, both of Byrneville; and six grandchildren, Andrew Hammond, Ashley Hammond, Autumn Jernigan, Austin Jernigan, Cooper Gosik and Ella Gosik.

Bobbie Jean Beasley Baker

Brewton

 

Bobbie Jean Beasley Baker, 58, of Crossover Lane Brewton, passed away Sun., March 13, 2016, at her residence after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held today, Wed., March 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thurs., March 17 at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with her brother-in-law, Bill Downing, and speaker Josh Bell officiating.

Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of the Cannan Free Will Baptist Church. She attended Wallace and Flomaton schools, and was a former bus driver for the Escambia County School System with 17 years of service. She enjoyed her grandchildren and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Royce Baker of Brewton; son, Joe (Miranda) Baker of Brewton; daughter, Ashley (Brandon) Byrd of Brewton; sisters, Faye (Barry) Fillmore and Robin (Mark) Bell, both of Brewton; and four grandchildren, Samuel Byrd, Joel Byrd, Nathan Byrd and Mason Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Lemley James and Laurie Cain Beasley; and sister, Diane Beasley.

Darlene Maxwell

Brewton

 

Darlene Maxwell, 60, of Brewton passed away on Thurs., March 10, 2016, in a Pensacola hospital.

Graveside funeral services were held on Sun., March 13, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Union Cemetery with the Rev. John Finklea officiating with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Edgewater, Fla., and had been a resident of Brewton since 1974.  She was a homemaker and was a member of Brewton First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Darrell “Rocky” Maxwell of Brewton; a son, Robert Aaron “Bobby” Maxwell of Brewton; two daughters, Summer (Krishna) Gupta of West Hollywood, Calif., and April (Jake) Lane of Gulfport, Fla.; three sisters, Karen (Doug) Emerson of Ormond Beach, Fla., Linda (Steve) White of Flomaton, and Wendy Cochran of Wrightsville, Ga.; an aunt, Margaret Jeffers of Baker, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Dylan Maxwell, Brennan Maxwell, and LilyGrace Lane.

Robert Earl Garrett 

Troy, Ala.

 

Robert Earl Garrett, 65, of Elba Highway in Troy passed away Sat., March 12, 2016, in a Pike County health care facility after an extended illness.

Funeral services were held Monday morning, March 14, at 11 a.m. at the London Baptist Church in Castleberry with the Rev. Bryan Garrett and the Rev. Nick Gandy officiating.

Interment followed in the London Baptist Church cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Pallbearers were Pat Brown, Mike Lanier, Buddy Kirksey, T.J. Kirksey, George Garrett and Clyde Garrett.

He was a native and life-long resident of Castleberry before moving to Troy several years ago.
He was a member of the London Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother, Lois Raines Garrett of Evergreen; brother, Gerald (Midge) Garrett of Castleberry; three sisters, Beth (Pat) Brown of Sevierville, Tenn., Gayle (Tim) Kirksey and Cheryl (Mike) Lanier, both of Castleberry; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Garrett Jr.

Terry Glen King

Brewton

 

Terry Glen King,  55, of Brewton, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 26, 2016.

Funeral services were held Sat., March 5, at 11 a.m. at Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor T.W. Broughton officiating and Presley-Fluker Funeral Funeral Directors directing.

Interment followed at Second Bethlehem Church Cemetery.

He was born to the late John “Buster” Lewis and Clara King on Nov. 14, 1961 in Brewton.

At a young age “Mole”, as he was affectionately call, joined Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the  Rev. W. B. Williams. He continued to be an active member under the leadership of Reverend T. W. Broughton until his passing.

During his early years of education, he attended Boykin Junior High School and graduated with the class of 1980 from W.S. Neal High School. Mole was gainfully employed with Brewton Fashions and later went to work at Adico.

He was an avid hunter. He was a quiet, easygoing man that brought impromptu joy to all around him.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Clara King of Brewton; sisters, Patricia (Earl) Lane of Brewton and Debra (Lewis) Brown of Omaha, Neb.; his brothers, Sammie (Faye) Ball of Katy, Texas and Donnie (Karen Wardlaw) King of Newnan, Ga.; nieces, Matress (Walter) Burns, Ronesha Ball, Sabrina Ball and Jazlyn Brown; nephews, Lester Ball, Eric Ball, Gary Ball, Jermaine Lane and Deontre King; step-son, Bryan McClain and his mother, Kim McClain; step-children, Tyquis Collins and ShyKeeliah Collins and their mother, Chauntae Collins; three devoted friends, Clarence Nelson, Brad Davis and Price Poindexter; a number of great nieces and nephews and a host of loving aunts, uncles, other relatives and other friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Lewis King; and grandparents, John and Iva Lee King and Magnolia and Jim Brazile. Several aunts and uncles also preceded him.

 

Beamon Williams

Evergreen, Ala.

 

Beamon Williams was born October 23, 1925, to the late Roosevelt and Mable Williams.

He departed this life February 27, 2016 at age 90.

Funeral services were held Sat., March 5, 2016, with the Rev. Danny Benjamin delivering the eulogy and Presley-Fluker Funeral Directors directing.

Interment followed at Sandy Grove Church Cemetery with military honors.

He was baptized into Sandy Grove Baptist Church at an early age. Later, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

After serving his country and returning home, he united in Holy Matrimony to Leola Bradley. They were married for 47 years and to this union, six children were born and raised before she preceded him in death.

He was a hard working man who loved his family, and they loved him. In time, he had another opportunity to share his life with someone special, Maxine Williams. They were married for 15 years before she preceded him in death.

He was the oldest of his siblings, of whom, six of them preceded him in death; Roosevelt Williams Jr., Ethel Patterson, Clanford Williams, Johnny Williams, Lola Walker and Lauretta Culliver.

He is survived by his five daughters, Edith (Daniel) Coker, Mable Jean Benjamin, Judy Sivils, Karen (Stan) Barnes and Ledora Perkins; one son, Beamon O’Neal (Alfredia) Williams; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Annie Franklin, Eula Johnson, Mary (Dwight) Gill, Margaret (Preston) Jackson and Willa Marion; brothers, Clifford (Geraldine) Williams, Donald (Marianetta) Williams and John (Ann) Culliver; sisters-in-law, Ethel Williams and Connie Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Jimmie Laruth Dortch

Brewton

 

Jimmie Laruth Dortch was born to Jimmy and Beulah Dortch.

He was a native of Brewton.  He attended T.R. Miller High School.  He was employed at Grede Citation for 25 years, and he was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Dortch; grandparents, Leige and Bessie Fountain; aunt, Annie Bell Tucker; uncles, Willie, Robert, James, Fred and Charlie Fountain; and cousins, Mary Thomas, Charlie Snowden and Debbie Fountain.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Thomas Dortch; daughter, Lakendra; two sons, Jeremy (Erica) and Ladereak; five grandchildren, Timothus, Tryion, Jamirius, Jermiah and Jorian; his mother, Beulah Dortch; three sisters, Dorothy Dortch, Diane White and Cathy Dortch; three aunts, Shirley Fountain, Mary Fountain and Caroline Fountain; two uncles, Jessie Fountain and James Freeman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Minnie Louise Folmar

Century, Fla.

 

Minnie Louise Folmar, 93, of Century, passed away Sat., March 12, 2016, in Jay, Fla.

Funeral services were held on Tues., March 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Barrow officiating.

Interment followed in Byrneville United Methodist Cemetery in Byeneville, Fla.

Pallbearers were Eddie Bondurant, Jonathan Bondurant, Ray Hammonds, Chester Johnson, Richard Collins and Andre’ Deslonde.

She was born in Bay Minette, Ala., and had been a long-time resident of Century.  She was a homemaker and served on the city council in Century for a number of years.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Flomaton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Folmar; sister, Jimmie Dell Swoboda; and son-in-law, Charles Reid.

She is survived by daughters, Christine Reid and Irene F. (Jerry) Bondurant, both of Century; brother, Fred (Frankie) Powell of Bay Minette; grandchildren, Jason Reid, Amy Kornegay and Jeremy Bondurant; and nine great-grandchildren.
