Michael Gene Tucker

Flomaton

 

Michael Gene Tucker, 51, of Sand Flat Road ,Flomaton, passed away Wed., March 30, 2016, at his residence after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Sat., April 2, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating.

Interment with military honors followed in Catawba Springs Cemetery in Brewton with William Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native of Milligan, Tenn. He was a member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church where he was active with RPM Ministry where he was better known as “Brother Goliath.” He was a 1983 graduate of W.S. Neal High School and was a retired Marine. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed fishing.

He is survive by his parents, Pat and Marie McRae of Brewton; wife, Lana Nelson Tucker of Flomaton; son, Matthew (good friend Anna) Tucker of Flomaton; a nephew, Ethan Pickern; and niece Cloie Pickern.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Tucker.

Betty Jane Haveard Dubose

Brewton

 

Betty Jane Haveard Dubose, 80, of Damascus Road in Brewton, passed away Thurs., March 31, 2016, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held on Sun., April 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Lambeth officiating.

Interment followed in Damascus Cemetery in Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of the Damascus Assembly of God Church and was retired from the Head Start Program with 32 years of service where she worked as a cook, teacher, janitor and school bus driver.

She is survived by her three daughters, Loretta (Huey) King of Brewton, Diane Hardy of Milton, Fla., and Imogene Brown of East Brewton; brother, Mann Haveard of Crestview; sister, Sybil Evans of Riverview; nine grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Dubose; son, Paul Dubose; two infant daughters; brother, Clifton Haveard; sister, Ruth Gibson; and son-in-law, Curtis Hardy.

Alize Johnson West

East Brewton

 

Alize Johnson West, 76, of Harold Street East Brewton, passed away Sun., April 3, 2016, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospice facility after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held today, Wed., April 6, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Harp and speaker Bernie Raines officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native of Harrisonburg, Va., and a long time resident of East Brewton. She was a member of the East Brewton Methodist Church, a 1958 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, a graduate of Birmingham Business School and a retired draw twist operator from Monsanto with 35 years of service.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carla Cooley and Rhonda Shell, both of East Brewton; sister, Agnes Sutton of St. Augustine, Fla.; two grandchildren, Johnathan Lambeth and Blake Shell; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lambeth and Kirby Lambeth.

Charles ‘Chuck’ Graves

Brewton

 

Charles “Chuck” Edward Graves, 54, of Cassie Road in Brewton, passed away Sat. April 2, 2016, at his residence after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held this afternoon, Wed., April 6, 2016, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.

Funeral services are scheduled to follow visitation at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Beualh Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native of Columbus, Miss., and a former resident of Florida before moving to Brewton. He was of the Christian faith. He attended Woodlawn High School in Birmingham. He was an avid sports fan and was a chef.

He is survived by his father, Pete Graves of Brewton; sisters, Joanna (Tommy) Tanner of Trussville and Donna Fansler of Clay, Ala.; two nieces, Kristina Russell and Shyenne Fansler; and two nephews, David Tanner and Gabe Fansler.

Joyce Penn Hopper

Castleberry

 

Joyce Penn Hopper, 72, of Autumnwood Drive, Castleberry, passed away Mon., April 4, 2016, in a Century, Fla., nursing facility after a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and time with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was a native of Montgomery, and a former resident of Birmingham, before moving to Castleberry. She was of the Baptist faith and a retired life insurance salesperson.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Cox of Castleberry; a brother, Ronnie Penn of Opp; a sister, Annette Falls of Irondale, Ala.; two grandchildren, Jenna Moody and James Moody; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Penn; mother, Beulah Grimes Penn; and step-mother, Mary Penn.

 

Connie Reese Crawford

Brewton

 

Connie Reese Crawford, 57, of Brewton, formerly of Andalusia, passed away Sat., April 2, 2016 in a Pensacola hospital.

Funeral services were held Tues., April 5 at 1 p.m. with Brother Donnie Lindsay officiating. Internment followed at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Crawford of Brewton; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jacquelyn Crawford of Andalusia; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Brent Smith; grandchildren, Jaxon Crawford, Cody Smith and Angel Smith; stepmother, Annette Reese of Andalusia; two sisters and brother-in-law, Colleen and Stanley Savage and Vanessa Grimes; a brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Annabelle Reese of Andalusia; and a special friend, Don Gauntney.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Milton Reese and Sara Wylene Reese.
