Brewton’s ongoing project to restore the city’s canopy decimated by storms got a shot in the arm this week with a $1,000 grant awarded through Alabama Power Foundation’s Good Roots program.
City workers will put the grant funding to use as part of its annual tree planting in public spaces and along city streets downtown. The grant is the most recent in a long list of projects receiving funding from Alabama Power. City crews plant more than 30 trees annually to replace those damaged or downed by storms and disease in public areas.
