The families of Laurel Bailey and Joshua Daniel Sawyer are pleased to announce the couple’s engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Amy and Chris Echols of Washington, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Patty and Jack Leard Jr. and Nancy and Claude McKeller, all of Washington, Ga.

She is a 2012 graduate of Nathanael Greene Academy and a 2016 graduate of the University of West Georgia where she earned a bachelor of science in education with a major in speech-language pathology. She plans to attend Valdosta State University to pursue a master’s degree in communication disorders.

The prospective groom is son of Cydni and Ronald Baggett of Brewton and Renita and John Sawyer of Evergreen. He is the grandson of Faye and J.F. “Dusty” Cooper of Repton; Mary Lou Odom of Brewton; the late Gwen Sawyer; the late Wesley Bradley of Repton, and the late Jerome Sawyer of Castleberry.

He is a 2007 graduate of W.S. Neal High School and a 2014 graduate of Emmanuel College, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. He is currently employed with Vestavia Hills Elementary Central.

The couple will exchange vows on May 20, 2017, at 5 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Washington, Ga.
