The Escambia County School Board is taking the next step in selecting new head football coaches for W.S. Neal and Escambia County High School.

County School Board Superintendent John Knott said next ahead will be a selection of committee members who will vet and take part in the interviewing process of potential applicants.

“As of today we are moving forward with the submitted applications,” Knott said on Monday. “We had a very good response for both W.S. Neal and Escambia County. Now will begin the process to see who are the best applicants. ”

Knott said there were 63 applications submitted for the WSN head coaching post and 64 submitted for Escambia County.

Knott was adamant a recommendation for the new head coaches will be made at the school board’s February meeting.
