1 jailed for child sex abuse

A Brewton man is behind bars following allegations of child sex abuse.
William Douglas Smith Sr., 56, was arrested Tues., Feb. 14, for two counts of sex abuse of a child less than 12.
Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the case stems from allegations from multiple victims.
“The alleged victims have been interviewed by a forensics interview and provided cause for an arrest,” Lambert said.

Smith remains in the Escambia County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond.
No other details were released in the case.
