Nelson leads TRM track in good showing

The T.R. Miller track and field team had another good showing on Thurs., March 23 in Brewton. The girls’ team had 30 top-three finishes, while the boys’ team had 24 top-three finishes. W.S. Neal had five top-five finishes for the girls’ team and one top-three finish for the boys’ team.
In girls’ action, Allie Nelson led the pack with four first place finishes in the 1,600-meter run (5:45.29); 3,200-meter run (11:34.64); 400-meter run (1:01.62); and 800-meter run (2:47.51). Kelsi Lum placed first in the 100-meter hurdles (18.15) and 300 meter hurdles (55.99). Brianna Dees finished in first place in the 200-meter dash (27.81) and long jump (15-05.75). Aleria Smith was a first place finisher in the javelin (110-10.00) and shot put (33-05.00). Payton Baxter placed first in the pole vault (8-08.00) and Raven Ewing placed first in the triple jump (31-09.75). The 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams placed first for TRM.
In the boys’ division Henry Davison led TRM with two first place victories. Davison finished first in the 100-meter hurdles (16.58) and triple jump (45-05.00). Other notable first place finishes for the TRM boys’ team were:
- Christian Bradley, 300-meter hurdles, 44.85;
- Micah Flores, 3,200-meter run, 11:19.86;
- Tanner McDaniel, 800-meter run, 2:18.91;
- Hayden Atkinson, javelin, 135-09.00; and,
- Sam LoDuca, pole vault, 9-06.00
The 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams placed first for TRM.
Kage Sims of WSN finished in second place in the javelin with a distance of 135-06.00.
