Neal loses against Jay, 9-1

On Thursday the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles loss to Jay 9-1.Free bases and a costly error helped spring a seven-run inning for Jay at Neal’s expense. The lead was insurmountable for the Lady Eagles. Neal scored a run in the fifth inning on a single to right field by Madison White. Jay added two more runs in the sixth inning.
Neal had five total hits. Tori Wyatt, Madison Hawthorne, Natalie Wyatt, Jena Wyatt and White each had a hit.
Ashli Wyatt picked up the loss from the circle. Wyatt allowed nine runs, five earned, on eight hits and two walks. She had three strikeouts.
On Tuesday the Lady Eagles picked up a strong 9-2 win over Florala. Tori Wyatt was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Alexis McNew was 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored. Madison Hawthorne had two hits and an RBI. Jena Wyatt had two hits and an RBI. Erin Salter had two hits. Neal had a total of 14 hits.
Ashli Wyatt was the winning pitcher. Wyatt pitched 4.1 innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks. She had eight strikeouts.
The Lady Eagles are 7-9 for the season.
Neal varsity softball will next compete in the Escambia County Tournament today versus Flomaton. First pitch is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. The team will also play in the tournament tomorrow, April 8, at 10:30 a.m., versus Escambia County; and 1:30 p.m. versus T.R. Miller.
