Kindergarten registration Thursday
Published 5:00 am Wednesday, April 19, 2017
It’s nearly time to get those new kindergarten students registered for the upcoming school year.
Four area schools – Brewton Elementary, W.S. Neal Elementary, Pollard-McCall Junior High and Flomaton – will host registration events on April 20.
BES will feature registration three blocks – 8:30 to 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the kindergarten building. Then, parents will have an opportunity to pre-register your child while attending “Ready, Set, Learn!” a pre-kindergarten parent information workshop.
During the parent meeting, a pre-kindergarten screening assessment will be given to the children, and they will participate in getting ready for “kindergarten” activities.
Parents must schedule an appointment time by calling 867-8410.
Those residing in the county districts must register their child between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at their respective schools.
To register in any system, a child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2015. The following documents will be needed:
• a certified birth certificate. A hospital birth certificate cannot be accepted;
• the child’s social security card with the same legal name as on the birth certificate.
• an up-to-date Alabama immunization certificate; and,
• proof of residency with a lease agreement from a local certified realtor and a public utility bill (top and bottom) or a receipt of deposit from a public utility for a permanent residency.
In Pollard and Flomaton, students will not be assigned to a class until all necessary documents have been supplied to the school.
If further information is needed, call: BES at 867.8410; WSNES at 867.7674; Pollard-McCall at 867.4070, or Flomaton Elementary at 296.3991.
