Steely Ruzic hits 9-for-12 with 2 home runs

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers finished runner up in the Class 3A area tournament in Excel Tuesday. Miller defeated Flomaton 15-2, and Excel 15-7 in the first two rounds before dropping two straight to Excel.

Flomaton 15, TRM 5

Miller junior Steely Ruzic had a career game going 3-for-3 at the plate with 6 RBIs, including a grand slam. Mallori Floyd was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Anna Grace White had a hit and 3 RBIs. The Lady Tigers had 10 hits.

Picking up the win was Taylor Austin. She pitched five innings, allowed five runs, on three hits, three walks, and struck out three.

Jalia Lassiter was the losing pitcher surrendering 15 runs, 10 hits, seven walks and striking out four over four innings of work.

Aleiha Emmons was 2-for-3 to lead Flomaton at the plate.

TRM 15, Excel 7

The Lady Tigers exploded for eight runs in the seventh inning to take the win.

Anna Grace White was the winning pitcher for Miller. Myra Reiss pitched six innings, allowing seven runs, on eight hits and four walks.

Steely Ruzic was 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and three runs scored to lead Miller.

TRM 4, Excel 5

Taylor Austin suffered the defeat on the mound. She gave up 10 hits, two walks and had one strike out.

Austin was 3-for-3 with a solo home run to lead Miller at the plate. Steely Ruzic, Myra Reiss and Janazsia Nettles had a hit.

Excel 10, TRM 3

Both Myra Reiss and Steely Ruzic were 3-for-4 at the plate. Ruzic had three-run home run. Mallori Floyd and Taylor Austin had a hit.

Gracie Byrd went 2-for-4 to lead Excel.

Reiss suffered the loss from the circle.  She allowed four runs, on four hits, two walks. Reiss had three strikeouts.

TRM will play Mobile Christian Thurs., May 11, at 9 a.m., at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex in Gulf Shores. The winner will play the winner of Wicksburg versus Opp. The loser will play the loser of Wicksburg versus Opp. Tournament is double-elimination.
