The valedictorian and salutatorian of W.S. Neal High School’s graduating class are Jordan Grantham and Billy Castillow.
Both, along with their graduating peers, will walk across the stage on Fri., May 26 at 7 p.m. at the W.S. Neal High School gymnasium.
Grantham, the daughter of James and Cathy Grantham, served as senior class and Key Club president. She was also inducted into many academic honor societies such as Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honors Society.
Grantham plans to become a neonatal nurse practitioner. She plans to attend Coastal Alabama Community College before transferring to Vanderbilt University.
“Savor every moment of your senior year because the time flies,” she said as advice to the upcoming seniors.
Grantham said she will miss the relationships she has made throughout high school when she graduates.
“My favorite high school memory is cheering with my favorite girls every Friday night at football games,” she said. “I’m definitely going to miss it. I will miss all of the friendships and memories that we made together.”
Castillow, the son of Billy and Lisa Castillow, was a member of the band, Future Farmers of America and the National honor society.
He plans to attend Troy University and the University of Alabama to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
“In 20 years, I see myself with a nice family and house, without me worrying if we have enough money to support ourselves,” he said.
For upcoming seniors, Castillow advises them to finish strong.
“Don’t give up at the end just because you think it is over.”
Although his favorite memories are of Friday night football games, he said he will miss his friends the most.
“After years of building friendships, it will be sad to see most of us go our separate ways,” he said.
