North Alabama junior pitcher and East Brewton native Tyler Joyner was recently named to the 2017 South-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team.

The honor comes after being named 2017 All-South Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Division II Conference Commissioners Association earlier this month.

It has been a breakout season for Joyner who was named Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Year and was selected the 2017 Bob Stephenson Award recipient by coaches and teammates.

Joyner finished the season with a 10-2 record with 99 strikeouts in 103.2 innings pitched.

He pitched seven complete games. In the classroom Joyner holds a 3.81 grade point average.

He helped the North Alabama Lions finish the season 34-19.

Joyner is a 2014 graduate of W.S. Neal High School and 2016 graduate of Coastal Alabama in Brewton. He is the son of Howard and Misty Joyner of East Brewton.
