Nelson advances to finals in NCAA Outdoor Track, Field Championships

Samford junior Karisa Nelson advanced to the finals in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday evening at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
She ran the fastest time in Heat No. 2 of Thursday evening’s semifinals with a time of 4:18.85.
Nelson will compete for her second national title in Saturday’s finals, scheduled for 5:41 p.m. (CT). She won the indoor national championship in the mile in March and was recently named the Southern Conference Female Athlete of the Year.
