Betty Reid Bostic
Bay Minette
Betty Reid Bostic, originally of Bay Minette, died on Thurs., June 29, 2017. She was 85 years old.
Memorial services were held on Mon., July 3, at Westminster Village. Arrangements were by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory of Daphne.
She was born on Nov. 21, 1931 in Bay Minette, to the late Maxwell Davis Reid and Cecil Slocomb Reid. She was a 1950 graduate of Baldwin County High School. From there she attended Troy University where she met her husband, Joel and interrupted her schooling to start her family.
Only much later, when her oldest son left for college, did she resume her college education. She graduated from Troy in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree and developed a passion for education and social justice. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Bob Reid and Jimmy Reid. S
he is also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joel Edward Bostic.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Reid Bostic, and Joel David Bostic; sister, Jean Reid Helton; two granddaughters, Rachel Bostic O’Connor and Leigh Margaret Bostic; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Francis Lamar Lindsey, 82, passed away on Wed. July 5, 2017, in a Pensacola health care facility.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., July 8, at noon from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Revs. Donnie and Wynette Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg Scarbrough, Michael Scarbrough, Paul Ham, Kaleb Ham, Gage Ham and Trace Ham.
He was born in Brewton and had been a resident of Pensacola, Fla., for the past 13 years. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katheryn; his brother, Austin Switzer Lindsey; and brother-in-law, Gerald Harden.
He is survived by a sister, Bonnie Jean (Bobby) Eddins of Pensacola, Fla.; two special nieces, Alpha Jean Scarbrough of Clemson, S.C., and Demethria Lynn Ham of Pensacola, Fla.

She is survived by her husband Floyd Stanford; two sons, Norman (Regina) Stanford and Jimmy (Kim) Stanford; three brothers; Roy (Linda) Partin, Mack (Kathy) Partin and Cecil (Gail) Partin; one sister, Mattie Stanford; five grandchildren, Britany Stanford, Billy Stanford, Kody Stanford, Alexis Stanford and Cassie Stanford; one great grandchild, Aleeah Crapps.
Clifford Young Dixon

Minister Clifford Young Dixon, 85, of Dixon Nursery Road in Brewton, passed away Wed., July 5, 2017, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Sat., July 8, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Minister Richard Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Hoomesville Cemetery Damascus Community in Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He was the active minister of the Hoomesville Church of Christ and was the retired minister of the Century Church of Christ. He began his ministry at the age of 18 and was involved for 67 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lovella Kirksey Dixon of Brewton; four sons, David (Susan) Dixon of Brewton, Charles (Garilyn) Dixon of Frisco City, Braxton (Karen) Dixon of Wilsonville, and Roger Dixon of Brewton; brother, Burl Dixon of East Brewton; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Leo Gibson, 71, of Dixon Nursery Road in Brewton, passed away Tues., July 4, 2017, at his residence after a brief illness.
Graveside services were held Mon., July 10, at 4 p.m. at Travelers Rest Cemetery on Upper Creek Road in Flomaton with the Rev. Doug Greer officiating.
Interment followed in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
He was a native of Atmore and a life long resident of Brewton. He was of the Baptist faith. He attended W.S. Neal High School and was a retired landscaper.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sally Lambeth Gibson of Brewton; two sons, Randy Gibson of Flomaton, and Timmy Gibson of Brewton; daughter, Tracey Sessions of Brewton; sister, Lucy Crawford of East Brewton; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Sandra Marie Gibson Moody, 56, passed away on Sat., July 1, 2017, at her Brewton residence.
Graveside funeral services were held at Travis Cemetery on Thurs., July 6 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Greer officiating.
She was born in Evergreen and had been a long time resident of the Brewton area. She was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Hazel Gibson; two sisters, Jackie White and Diane Chavez; two brothers, Everett “Tiger” Gibson Jr., and Michael Wayne Gibson; and a granddaughter, Morgan Fuqua.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Moody of Brewton; two sons, Gerald McDonald of Cullman, and Terry (Kira) Fuqua of Foley; one daughter, Fallon (David) Leggett of Brewton; stepdaughter, Christy Lee Moody of Prattville; four brothers, Horace Gibson of Brewton, Phillip Gibson of Huntsville, Charlie Gibson of Brewton, and Chester Mooney of Castleberry; two sisters, Sheila Haveard, and Angie Hadley, both of Brewton; 10 grandchildren, Taylor Marie McDonald, Peyton Lee Leggett, Dylan Bradley Leggett, Sadie McDonald, Hanna McDonald, Caleb Fuqua, Brooklee Leggett, Seth Leggett, Emmalynn Fuqua and Lincoln Fuqua.
