Looking ahead: WSN vs. Monroe County
Published 10:37 am Thursday, October 5, 2017
W.S. Neal hosts Monroe County tomorrow night in a class 4A region 1 matchup that sees the Eagles coming in at 2-3.
Monroe County enters the contest at 3-3, coming off a win in its last effort against Central Hayneville, 40-20.
The matchup all time is 25-14 in favor of WSN, who is currently riding a four game win streak over Monroe.
Last year, WSN squeaked out a win in a low scoring affair, 22-18. Marvin Maddox led the way offensively, scoring two of the Eagles’ touchdowns on 97 yards over 14 carries. Neal’s defense only allowed 140 total yards of offense.
So far this year, both teams have faced only one common opponent in Thomasville. Both teams lost to the still-undefeated Tigers, (WSN 36-16 and Monroe 51-6).
Monroe County is allowing opponents to score nearly 30 points per game this year, including an average of 38 points over the course of its last four outings. WSN is averaging 31 points per game offensively this year.
Forecast: I expect WSN to jump on Monroe County early and often. A better team offensively than last year, WSN should win by a larger margin this year.
Prediction: 40-6 WSN.
Gametime is 7 p.m.
GO BIG BLUE!
