Herman Vernon Salter

Brewton

Herman Vernon Salter, 73, of Brewton passed away Wed., Dec. 13, 2017 at his residence after a brief illness.

Graveside services were held Fri., Dec. 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Travis Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Cardwell officiating.

He was a native of and former resident of Castleberry and a long time resident of Brewton.

He attended Castleberry School System, enjoyed fishing and was a retired truck driver.

His survivors include his companion, Dorothy Salter of Brewton; two daughters, Tricia Harrison of Pace and JoAnn Castleberry of Pensacola; four grandchildren, Chris Hammond, Casey Hammond, Andew Calloway, Sarah Harrison; three great grandchildren, Josh Qualls, Jaylen Johns, Jason Calloway.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Lee and Lena Miller Salter, and his two sisters, Lillian Salter and Carolyn Lockwood.

Graveside services were held Fri., Dec. 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Travis Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Cardwell officiating.

Kimberly Doster

West Monroe

Kimberly Doster,48, of West Monroe, La. went to her heavenly home Dec. 12, 2017.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 16, 2017 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, La. with Bro. Adam Holloway officiating. Burial followed in Beulah Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

She was a registered nurse, a member of Christ Church in West Monroe and was an avid rock collector.

She was preceded in death by her daddy, Danny Lane Doster; maternal grandparents, Floyd & Opal Smith; and paternal grandparents, Loyelle & Noviline Tucker Doster.

Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Carolyn Doster of Brewton; son, Jakob Storm Doster of West Monroe, La.; brother, Kevin Lane Doster of Farmerville, La.; special friend, Cruz Padron of Farmerville, La.; special aunt, Linda Miller of Brewton; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.

Pallbearers were Stephen Stanley, James Waggoner, Joseph Padron, Nathaniel Padron, Mazion Pepper, and Steven Johnson.

Thomas Aubrey Pugh

Brewton

Thomas Aubrey Pugh, Sr., 89, passed away on Tues., Dec. 12, 2017 at the Century Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held on Fri., Dec. 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Virginia Beckham officiating.

He was born in Jay and had been a resident of the Brewton area since 1964, coming from Mobile.  He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He worked as a millwright at the paper mill for a number of years.  He was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Louise Meadows Pugh.
He is survived by a son, Thomas Aubrey (Marcia) Pugh of Elkton, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara Faye (Frank) Barnes of Brewton; a step-daughter, Deborah Ann (Keith) McClammy of Robertsdale; a brother, Calvin Pugh of Pensacola; two sisters, Betty Lou Hammons and Edna Faye Rowell, both of Mobile; seven grandchildren, Melanie McClammy, Jennifer Blackwell, Kinny Pugh, Brad Blackwell, Kelli King, Bobby Cannon and Ben Pugh; five great-grandchildren, Braden Blackwell, Brody Blackwell, K.K. King, Grace King and Noell King.
Pallbearers were Nick Bell, Brad Blackwell, Kinny Pugh, Bernard Blackwell, Frank Barnes and Frank Reid.

Eunice Idelia Carter

Brewton

Eunice Idelia Carter, 84, passed away on Tues., Dec. 12, 2017 at the Brewton hospital.

Funeral services were held on Fri., Dec. 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. John Finklea officiating.
She was a life-long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of the W.S. Neal High School Class of 1951, and worked as a bus driver for Brewton City Schools for over 21 years. She was a member of Brewton’s First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Franklin Carter, Jr.; a son, Joseph Franklin Carter, III; and a great-grandson, Elijah Ryan Seth Carter.
She is survived by three sons, James W. “Jimmy” (Jeannie) Carter and David Lee (Barbara) Carter, both of Sandcut, Ala., and Joey Carter of Brewton; one brother, O.C. Bates of Brewton; six grandchildren, Ryan Carter, Cory Carter, Cody Carter, Lamar Carter, Kristen Carter and Heather Jackson; two step-grandchildren, Brandon Thompson and Brittany Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Tracey Jackson, Raven Carter, Cheyenne Carter and Hunter Carter.
Pallbearers were Lamar Carter, Cody Carter, Don Norsworthy, Keith Ivey,
Carl Hadley, Chad Steele and Richard Happoldt.
