Participants in the T.R. Miller basketball camp celebrated their last day at camp Friday with a cookout and playing a game of basketball in their new basketball camp t-shirts.

The kids learned the basic fundamentals of basketball this summer. “The objective was to give them something to do and constructive,” coach Ron Jackson said.

Along with Jackson was Gerald Barton, Derrick Korbin, Jamal Smith, Makayla Harris, Michael Smith, Josh Jolley, Chakara Barton and Ladonna Watson as coaches. “Our camp has been going on for six-plus years and want to recognize my wife Gwinn Jackson and Cherryl Barton because they are the mothers of the camp,” Jackson said.

The camp consisted of 50 kids participating.

“Special thanks Mayor Yank Lovelace, the Brewton Council, Andrew Clark from Trustmark bank, D. W. McMillian Trust and the YMCA for making this camp a great success,” Jackson said.
