Chase Pittman is a member of Boy Scout Troop 99, sponsored by the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club under the leadership of Scoutmaster Shane Adams.
Pittman began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub with Pack 897 and continued through Cub Scouting to achieve the highest award, the Arrow of Light.
As a member of Troop 99, Pittman has held numerous leadership positions including Troop Guide, Quartermaster and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.
Pittman earned 36 merit badges, including the Gold, Bronze and Silver Palms, the Mile Swim Award and BSA Kayaking Award. He was inducted into Wiatava Lodge 13, the Modoc Chapter of the Order of the Arrow in 2016 and earned Brotherhood Membership in 2017. In 2018, Pittman spent the summer at Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley as a counselor in training (CIT) where he taught multiple merit badges and rank advancement requirements.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project At Help for Brain Injured Children, Inc. (HBIC) in La Habra, CA, Pittman designed, engineered and provided leadership to build six garden cages that not only kept the critters out, but allowed for ample sunshine, and easy access for the students to continue to use the gardens as part of their on-going curriculum and life skills training. HBIC provides programs of academics, communication, community integration and independence for children, young adults and adults with multiple disabilities including Autism, Down Syndrome and Seizure Disorder. Under his direction, scouts and adult volunteers completed the project that took more than 300 man-hours.
The fact that a boy is an Eagle Scout has always carried with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but for the young man as he enters higher education, business or industry and community service. Only about four percent of all Boy Scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Pittman becomes the 119th Eagle Scout in Troop 99’s 102 years of providing the scouting experience to the youth of Yorba Linda. Pittman joins his father and two of his uncles as Eagle Scouts.
Pittman is a junior at Servite High School and participates in wrestling. Pittman earned his Eagle Scout Award on March 15, 2018 and his Eagle Court of Honor was held on September 14, 2018 at the Yorba Linda Community Center.
Pittman is the son of Charlie and Starla Pittman of Yorba Linda and grandson of Bernie and Edith Raines of East Brewton, Alabama.
