On Monday morning, seven T.R. Miller High School student-athletes were honored by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) and Direct Communications.
Student-athletes, Khadejah Askew, Micah Flores, Mallori Floyd, Kedarrius Jenkins, Rider Jernigan, Jon Jeter, and Anna Grace White received the AHSAA Sportsmanship Award.
The award recognizes student-athletes who exemplify character and sportsmanship on and off the field.
On hand to award the honors were Alabama Rep. Alan Baker and Frances Coleman of Direct Communications.
Baker is an alum of TRM and a former head TRM football coach.
Baker has been a part of 10 TRM state titles.
“Each of these seven student-athletes epitomize what is right about athletics. They all demonstrate excellence in the classroom and on the field,” said Rep. Alan Baker.
The seven TRM students compete in a variety of different sports.
Students such as, Micah Flores, compete in as many as five different sports.
The nominees for the awards are picked by the coaches and then voted on by the ASHAA.
“These student-athletes represent their team, their school, their families and their community in a way that makes us all proud. We are happy to make these presentations to these students,” said AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese.
